Understanding and Managing Emotions Workshop for Parents of Teens

An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Tuesday, happening 3 times
Please note: First Steps events are for families and young people open to First Steps.
What Is It?
These 3 workshop sessions are aimed for parents of children aged 12-18. Parents are encouraged to attend all 3 as each session builds on from the next, however are also free to choose which workshops they wish to attend.
- Helps parents of teens to develop their understanding of emotions, the concept of emotional avoidance, and also the importance of understanding how the teenage brain influences emotions and behaviour.
- Contains a range of practical strategies to help parents cope and manage common situations when strong emotions show up when interacting with their teen. They will also be introduced to the concept of values and how this can be linked to strong emotions.
- Looks at how parents have been implementing any of the new ideas or strategies previously learnt. This workshop also offers extra tips to help parents support teens to manage their emotions, and improve their relationship with the young person.
