FIRST STEPS COVID-19 UPDATE:
From Wednesday 18th of MARCH 2020 and up until further notice the First Steps team will be prioritising the patients and staff safety and for this reason we will be focusing on covering urgent NHS workload only as part of Convid-19 planning.
Unfortunately, this means that we will not be accepting any new referrals.
If your referral is urgent please pass it on to our colleagues in Specialist CAMHS elt-tr.CityandHackneyCAMHS@nhs.net
For Crisis please contact 02084328020
Otherwise, please consider alternative support for the child/young person and their families for the time being.
Until further notice ignore the below message.
We welcome both professional and self-referrals from young people (over 16 years old) and parents over the phone.
If you have already spoken to a professional, who is supporting you such as your GP, Family Support Practitioner, Health Visitor, Youth Worker or your School/College Staff. Please ask the professional to complete a referral form on your behalf.
They will be able to provide us with additional information that might be helpful for us to be aware of and this way you will not need to repeat more than once your current concern and story.
If you choose to call us independently, please give First Steps a call on 0207 014 7135.
We may not have a clinician available immediately to take the call, but will call you back as soon as we can. We can only call a valid United Kingdom number.
Also we are not a Crisis Service, as the remit of our team is to enhance current strengths and resources within you and your support system through a 6 sessions model of psychological input. Please see the section on What to do in an emergency
For this reason First Steps are unable to work with families who are currently working with Children’s Social Care. If that is the case and you have concerns about your emotions, behaviour or relationships, or your parent has, please discuss these with your Social Worker and they will be able to organise support for you and your family.
As a NHS service, we work in partnership with other agencies, in order to ensure that you, or your child if you are a parent calling us, reach(es) the most suitable service. Therefore, we may share information within the other Hackney & City CAMHS teams. We will try and keep you informed and up to date if these discussion do arise.
