Hannah told us about her experience of coming to see First Steps. She used her talents at creative writing and artwork to tackle her problems with the help of the person she saw:
I was referred to First Steps due to anxiety which was making it difficult to attend school. I had a lovely psychologist who spent time getting to know me and used my interests in art and gaming to help me better understand the causes of my anxiety and ways I could manage it. She was the first person to notice my low mood and to consider a diagnosis of ASD and so referred me on for further support.
The support has helped me get my GCSE qualifications, which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Accepting help and support and working on your problems isn’t always easy but it’s worth it in the end. For me, First Steps was a very positive experience of intervention.
