Urgent help

If you’re under 18 and experiencing a mental health crisis, don’t worry, help is available. Children and young people, and anyone worried about them, can call NHS 111, Option 2. The Helpline is free to call and available 24 hours a day including at weekends and Bank Holidays.

A mental health crisis can include:

  • thoughts of suicide or significant self-harm.
  • struggling to cope with extreme emotional distress that won’t stop.
  • concerns that your mental health puts you or others at risk of harm.

Children and young people’s mental health specialists are based in Homerton Row Children & Young People’s Centre (15 Homerton Row, London E9 6ET) Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Specialists are also available at A&E departments, 9am-9pm seven days a week at:

  • Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Rd, London E1 1FR
  • Homerton University Hospital, Homerton Row, London E9 6SR
  • Newham Hospital, Glen Road, Plaistow, London E13 8SL
